PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROVISION AND EXPENDITURE OF SCHOOL SPORTS FUNDING

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

Effective, enjoyable, and inclusive Physical Education is at the heart of an outstanding curriculum, that develops healthy bodies and minds. We view PE and Learning outside the classroom as cornerstones of our pupils’ learning. We encourage exercise for all throughout the school day where possible. We encourage physical activity embedded within outdoor learning, and extra curricular clubs and tournaments for all abilities - these all enhance our comprehensively taught PE curriculum. Upper keystage 2 pupils have the opportunity every year to attend our outward bound residential which may include - Climbing, high ropes. challenge skills, orienteering, swimming, rock scrambling.

As a small, rural school, participation in extra curricular sports festivals and tournaments are essential opportunities for our pupils to expand their horizons, to meet and mix with peers, and to take part in events. Thanks to supportive staff, PTFA and parents, and the School Sports Funding, we compete in several local events on offer. We are members of the Sedgemoor Schools Games Membership where we actively take part.

To support our children's swimming development we go to 'Blackbrook' Swimming pool where we have two swimming coaches who teach and support pupils swimming skills. There is also the opportunity for children to develop life saving skills.

We have numerous extra-curricular sports clubs on offer for all pupils.  Our own sports coach from 'Inspired' schools teaches and coaches pupils and develops our own staffs continuing professional development within PE. Our curriculum lead and PE coach encourages all pupils to take part in school tournaments both in house and within the local area. We are developing our Year Six 'Young Leaders' who will be supporting all pupils at lunch times to keep fit and active. These activities may include - lunch time dance, 4 square, use of lunch time PE resources.
